BATH & BASICS

Bath is the first and most important step in the dog grooming process. You can’t correctly blow dry, do a deshedding treatment or perform a haircut without a proper bath.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

First, the groomer will clean your dog’s ears. We choose to not pluck the ear hair unless requested based on the fact that it opens up the pores and becomes a breeding ground for bacteria thus leading to ear infection. Not to mention that it’s painful.
Now it’s time for a double bath with a shampoo appropriate for your dog. A conditioner will be used if needed.
The face will be shampooed with a fine blueberry facial that will leave a pleasant but faint berry smell. The eye boogers will be softened and removed. So will dingleberries.
Anal glands will be expressed upon request at no additional charge.
After thoroughly rinsing off the product, your dog will be wrapped in a so-called towel burrito to let it chill for a few minutes.
Then it’s time for fluff drying by hand. The coat will be completely dried, straightened, thoroughly brushed and combed out. Light matting will be removed.
Nails will be trimmed and filed at no additional charge.

We don’t use dog perfumes since a proper bath we perform and premium quality products used will already leave your dog smelling amazing.

The next step will depend on your dog’s coat length:

– If long or curly haired (maltese, poodle, bichon, shih-tzu etc) the groomer will do a sanitary trim, shape up the hair around the paws and scissor hair between the eyes, neaten the bangs to open up the eyes.
– If your dog is short-haired (french bulldog, american bulldog, lab etc) the groomer will perform a deshedding treatment with special tools. Your dog’s coat will feel smooth, lay flat, look shiny and won’t shed as much at least for a few weeks.

Recommended maintenance schedule

We recommend having your dog professionally bathed every 2 to 3 weeks (in between their full grooming appointments) in order to prevent matting.
For shedding breeds a 4 week grooming schedule is preferred to keep the dog in a top shape.
